Hello. My name is Kevin Murt. I’m 16 years old and come from a family of six, where I am the oldest of four boys. My hobbies include playing sports, sleeping, and eating frequently. I'm a resident of Southampton.  I attended Our Lady of Good Counsel grade school, which is also in Southampton and right down the street from my house.

Here at Wood, I strive to be a straight A student. Some programs I’m involved in include the Student Council Executive Board and the F.A.C.E. program.  Also, I play football and have wrestled and run track here at Wood. My favorite sport is football, in which I play running back. This past season, our team enjoyed great success, including our march all the way to the State Championship game.

However, another experience from this football season was also important to me.  One early morning after a playoff game, we traveled as a team to Villanova University to volunteer at the Special Olympics Fall Festival for the entire state of Pennsylvania. Our team’s presence and time working with these athletes, encouraging them, and celebrating their efforts made them so happy.  Being witness to their happiness gave us a great joy. The contentment that I recieved from their joy is the reason I frequently participate in acts of charitable giving, from running in races to raise money for a variety of causes to joining in local Habitat for Humanity efforts.

I plan to continue this volunteerism in tandem with my education in college. I hope to pursue an engineering major at an Ivy League School. I would also like to continue to play football in college.  After college, like most people, I hope to be: successful in my profession, make a lot of money, start a family, and retire early.  Once I retire, I would like to return to football, this time as a coach, and be the positive influence in kids’ lives that my coaches are for me.
